A major residential, tourist and leisure complex planned for the outskirts of Dunmore East has been given the green light by Waterford Co Council.

The multi-million euro development, which will include a 129-bedroom hotel with conference centre, leisure centre, 340 houses and 72 holiday apartments, is set to bring considerable employment to the area in both the short and long term. Construction on the 55-acre site is scheduled to place over six phases.

Included in the plans are a major residential development of 23 two-storey, 5-bedroom detached houses, 21 two-storey 4-bedroom houses, 284 three-bed semis and two 3-bed bungalows.

The four storey hotel, with a total floor area of 11,460 sqm, will include basement parking for 179 cars, a 15m pool, sauna, spa & treatment clinic and a gym, as well as a bar and restaurant, a conference centre and a total of 129 bedrooms spread over the upper floors. The development will also include 72 apartments, built over six 3-storey blocks
