reland Rule KO
Saturday’s farcical defeat in Cardiff pretty much summed up Ireland’s Six Nations season so far. Everything that could go wrong probably will, with the possibility of a Martin Johnson-managed England winning the Grand Slam in Dublin on Saturday an appalling Aviva vista. Though given the earth-shattering events in Japan to speak of any sort of sporting subject in terms of tragedy is ridiculous.
For all the officials’ culpability in not enforcing the line-out rule, Ireland shouldn’t have had to rely on excuses at the Millennium Stadium, a place where they’ve had the rub of the green a few times over the years, not least when Stephen Jones’s last-minute penalty just fell short to enable us secure the Grand Slam two seasons ago.
