A massive crowd of up to 20,000 is expected in Piltown this Saturday, August 28th, when the Iverk Show takes place at The Showgrounds.
It promises to be a festival of farming, gymkhana and music and no less than five bands will perform including musicians from France. A huge amount of trade stands are booked for the show and there will be 160 showing events on the day which is always a great family event.
Sean Kelly, Fine Gael MEP, will officially open the show at 12 noon but there will be events on from the morning. Sean will update farmers about the ongoing discussions/negotiations concerning the single farm payment and will speak at the cattle arena after the opening. Barry Andrews, Minister for Children, will also visit the show. Entrance fee has been held at €10 and there is free parking. With Kilkenny in the All Ireland final there may be some good pre match atmosphere.
The Fiddown bridge will re-open that day roads on the county Waterford side will be open as normal after roadworks. Patrons may save time by using also the new Suir Bridge to get onto Waterford Piltown road on the Kilkenny side of the river.
