The Third Division of the Munster Junior League, which features Waterford City, Carrick-on-Suir and Dungarvan, has a new format for the 2008/2009 campaign.

All three clubs will feature in Division Three Group B, which is due to kick-off on October 12th with Carrick hosting Waterford City at Tybroughney while Dungarvan play host to Fermoy. Both games are scheduled for 3pm starts.

The division is composed of the aforementioned, along with Fermoy, Galbally and Douglas.

The other local derbies during the season are as follows – all 2.30pm kick-offs:

November 9th: Dungarvan v Waterford City

November 30th: Carrick-on-Suir v Dungarvan

January 25th: Waterford City v Carrick-on-Suir

March 8th: Waterford City v Dungarvan

March 29th: Dungarvan v Carrick-on-Suir

Division Three Group A features Saint Mary’s, Killarney, Killorglin, Presentation, Scariff and Kilrush.

Promotion to the Second Division has also been altered, with a play-off system coming into place at the end of the regulation season and there’ll be more details on that in future editions.

Meanwhile, Munster’s Under-19s went down 16-10 to Connacht in their opening Interprovincial Championship match played in Cork last Saturday.

Captained by Carrick-on-Suir lock Dean Landy and with Waterpark’s Brian Walsh at number eight, the teams were locked at 10 points apiece at the break.

But two second half penalties via the boot of Brendan Carpenter sealed victory for the westerners.

Waterpark duo Shane Moynihan and Paul Molloy featured among the replacements. Munster take on Leinster in Ashbourne this Saturday with the game scheduled for a 2.30pm kick-off.
