John Mitchels 0-13; Newtown 0-8
Defending champions John Mitchels are through to the Eastern Intermediate Football Final yet again after a five-point win over Newtown in Kilmacthomas last Saturday evening.
The Mitchels’ were in control of this game virtually from the throw-in and it never looked as if their title was under threat at any stage.
With Martin Scurry and especially Tony Kirwan winning the midfield battle, the John Mitchels forwards had an ample supply of possession from which to do damage.
In that regard, they were assisted by the Newtown backs who were resorted to fouling the Mitchels’ forwards in order to keep them out.
