It proved to be a very bad weekend for Waterford clubs in Munster Cup competitions. It all started on Saturday when a fancied Bohemians team crashed out of the Munster Youth Cup away to Togher Celtic (4-3). To make matters worse they had both Leo Jacques and Kenny Purcell sent off.

Togher Celtic will now play the only remaining Waterford team left standing, Waterford Crystal, in the semi-final in Ozier Park on Sunday, March 9th.

On Sunday both Carrick United and Tramore lost away in the Munster Junior Cup. Carrick were defeated by Aisling Annacotty 3-1. Anthony O’Donnell scored Carrick’s goal with a header not long after the interval to level the game but the home side broke away twice and scored twice in the second half to set up a date with St Michael’s in the next stage.

Tramore fell behind to a Shane Clarke goal against Wembley Rovers after only 3 minutes of play. Clarke is an International Schools player with Ireland.

John Butler of Tramore was sent off early in the second half and ten-man Tramore were then left with a mountain to climb. The game finished one-nil. Goalscorer Clarke was also sent off with 3 minutes remaining.

A weekend best forgotten from a Waterford point of view.
