No matter how hard I try I will never be able to forget this match at Fraher Field on Saturday and I suspect the vast majority of those who were in attendance could well require therapy afterwards. It really was that bad! After the hour was up, it was Ballinameela who claimed the two championship points on offer and got their senior football campaign off to a winning start.

The tone for this game was set before the ball was even thrown in when the referee showed up with no linesmen and only two umpires. This is simply not good enough for Senior Football. Calling a spade a spade, it would not happen in the Senior Hurling championship.
