Waterford Music celebrated its 550 Concert in great style in the presence of the Mayor Cllr Mary Roche with the Irish Chamber Orchestra with Pekka Kuusisto as director and solo violinist. This young Finnish violinist is a live wire crackerjack who, several times, leaped from the stage area and at one stage seemed to follow an early departing audience member. He is a versatile and virtuoso performer who likes to improvise within the score and his approach to Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons with an added harmonium might not have been as rock and roll as Nigel Kennedy but it had foot-stomping flair and vitality.
