A world premiere, a Garter Lane opening, an Edna O’Brien script from a book banned in 1960, the author in the audience, a nude scene, a bitter sweet story of growing up in a wild place, exceptional performances and a standing ovation. That was Red Kettle Theatre Company’s triumphant return to where they belong.
Director Mikel Murfi brought the play, set in a cruel, but in many ways idyllic 1950’s to passionate life with strong compelling performances and a hard working ensemble of six actors who played a series of characters, with energy and accuracy in a Ben Hennessy set.
