Carrick United 0 Rockmount 1

A depleted Carrick United team made their exit from the Munster Senior Cup on Sunday. The Waterford Premier League champions had to line out without regular first team players Adrian Walsh (goalkeeper) Keith Walsh (defender) Barry Murphy (midfield) and Thomas Fitzgerald (striker). During the course of the game they lost the service of Wayne Fitzgerald and Alan Ryan and all of those problems proved to be to much against a team who are the Munster Senior League champions and favourites to win this seasons Intermediate Cup.

Carrick did pile forward during the final 15 minutes to try and grab an equaliser but they could not get through a very solid Rockmount defence. The only goal of the game arrived 15 minutes into the second half and it was a scrappy affair. The ball could have been cleared but Rockmount’s William McCarthy somehow managed to get the ball into the Carrick net.

This defeat will not worry Carrick unduly because they have their minds set on Munster Junior Cup and FAI Junior Cup glory this season.
