Johnville 1;   St Saviours 3

St Saviours have jumped out of the traps in fine style this season. They won their opening game of the season 3-2 with a dramatic late winner from Joe Twomey when they defeated Hibernians and in this contest in St Martin’s Park in midweek they raced into a two goal lead inside the opening 11 minutes. They took their foot of the pedal somewhat after their blistering opening and the home side missed a penalty which could have turned the game on its head, but there is no doubt that the Saints deserved the points on offer. On the evidence of their opening two games, St Saviour’s will play a major role in the destination of the league title.
Brian Arrigan was the player who started the move which created the opening goal after only 6 minutes. He went down the down the right channel and when he was held back by James Casey, the right-back whipped in the free kick that found a way through a crowded goalmouth to the back post and it was Aaron O’Neill who kept his composure to fire under the body of keeper Tomas Wall from 10 yards.
