For all the bluster there’s been from Government about job growth and making Ireland the best small country in which to do business there’s an altogether more immediate and pressing task facing the coalition: job consolidation.
The staff of hundreds of small businesses (such as ours) and larger companies, as sadly exemplified by Talk Talk on Wednesday last, face uncertain, difficult futures. In Talk Talk’s case, it looks like their time in the city has little more than three weeks left to run.
The loss of almost 600 jobs is the latest blow to a region which has had precious little time to get off its knees these past three years due to successive volleys of job losses.
