Four adults and two teenagers were arrested last week under Operation Thor, investigating a series of burglaries committed in the city, Tramore and Dungarvan in January.
Gardai from the Waterford Division supported by units from the South Eastern Region searched six locations in Waterford, Kilkenny and Portlaoise last Thursday morning in connection with the burglaries.
Four men – aged 17, 21, 28 and 30 – were initially arrested and detained at Waterford, Tramore, Tipperary and Carlow Garda stations under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.
A fifth man – in his mid-20s – was subsequently arrested in Portlaoise on Friday afternoon and detained at Nenagh Garda Station
A 16-year-old female was also arrested and detained at Kilkenny Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. She appeared in court in Kilkenny on Friday morning on theft charges.
Laptops, USB keys and some Waterford Crystal were amongst the items seized by Gardaí during the searches. Garda sources say some of the recovered goods were stolen during burglaries in Waterford and Tramore.
