The residents of over 60 housing estates in County Waterford have made formal requests to the Council for their estates to be ‘taken in charge’, the Budget Meeting of the County Council was told in Dungarvan, last week.

Director of Services Brian White said the data base of estates now included 162 housing estates. The Planning Authority had four ‘unfinished housing estates’ around the county. Attention would be focused on that issue in 2011 to ensue that the taking in charge was accomplished in the best interest of the public and with the least possible long-term risk for the local authority.
