Waterford Crystal 3; Southend United 1

Southend United are now just two points ahead of Ferrybank following this defeat, their 8th of the current campaign. They had chances to take the lead in the first half but it was Crystal who took the lead after 50 minutes.

Robbie Butler played the ball forward to Joe Watson and he finished in good style. Nine minutes later the home outfit went 2-0 ahead. Robbie Butler and Joe Watson combined to set up Martin Tynan and he duly applied the finish.

Daniel O’Sullivan gave Southend some hope from the penalty spot with 12 minutes remaining but 5 minutes later Brendan Rea set up Diarmuid Delhhunty and he coolly guaranteed the points for Crystal.
