The financial hedonism that catalysed the IMF’s arrival into this Republic lead our out-of-touch Government to introduce several morally reprehensible measures in last week’s Budget.
That news of a €40 million bonus payout to AIB traders (thankfully now withdrawn) broke on the same day the Social Welfare Bill was passed compounded the allowance cuts to the blind, the invalided and to carers.
I sincerely hope that voters remember which parties, which disaffected Fianna Fáilers and which independent TDs approved the measure to cut monies to these vulnerable sectors.
