Ballinameela 1-14; Butlerstown 0-9

It took three games and over three and a half hours of hurling but Ballinameela at last claimed the County Junior title after a comfortable victory over a disappointing Butlerstown in Carriganore last Saturday.

The autumnal sun brought a large crowd to this second replay with many hoping for a repeat of the dramatic encounter of the previous week when extra-time failed to separate the teams.

The eastern side’s Championship ambitions appeared to go south when star player Tyrone Costello succumbed to a long-standing knee injury and was replaced at half-time.
