St Saviour’s 1; Southend United 2

Southend United put a severe dent in the title hopes of St Saviour’s and at the same time gave themselves a great chance of keeping their Premier League status with a really brave display in Ballybeg.
Their leading goalscorer Daniel O’Sullivan gave them the lead after 40 minutes. He rose high at the far post to head home a free-kick taken by Michael Caulfield. St Saviour’s equalised on 84 minutes. A corner taken by Stephen Dalton was touched on by John Paul Jacob and the unfortunate Lee Hayes glanced the ball past his own goalkeeper Cliff Kearney.

Back came Southend and they grabbed the winner on 89 minutes. Paul Quilty was fouled by Jamie Swift. Quilty took the free kick himself and this time Michael Farrell turned from goal provider to goalscorer by heading the ball low to the net.
