In his first address to the Western Convention as Divisional Chairman, Eddie Cunningham urged club delegates to vote against the Strategic Plan when such time comes.
In a wide ranging address to delegates at last Thursday evening’s Western Board Convention in Dungarvan, the Tallow man didn’t believe such a proposal would be in West Waterford GAA’s best interests.
“One part of the Strategic Plan is to abolish the Divisional Boards,” he said.
“I strongly oppose this as I feel the Western Board has served the county well over the years and will continue to do so in going forward” he warned.
“I strongly urge clubs to resist the motion been passed when it comes before convention in the near future.”
The Chairman was echoing what divisional secretary Pat Grant had to say in his first address to convention.
The Fourmilewater clubman, while commending Waterford City Manager Michael Walsh who was tasked with drawing up the plan said “we must, in my opinion be strong and steadfast in out opposition to these proposals. If it is not broke why fix it?”
