A 22-year-old woman was killed following a road traffic collision outside New Ross on Wednesday evening last.
Adamstown native Lena Doyle lost her life after the car in which she was a front seat passenger is believed to have lost control on a bend on the New Ross-Wexford N25, sending it across the road.
The car, which was being driven by a 19-year-old woman and contained three male back seat passengers, collided into a fence and telegraph pole at Begerin, three miles from New Ross.
The driver and two of the back seat passengers were taken to Wexford General Hospital while a third back seat passenger was sent to Waterford Regional Hospital for treatment.
Ms Doyle was described by work colleague Jim Mernagh (EZ Living, New Ross) as “always full of life and very popular with staff and with customers”.
New Ross Town Council Chairman Victor Furness, a friend of the Doyle family described Lena as “a lovely girl”.
Mr Furness added: “It’s very sad – the whole place is devastated. She was a beautiful young lady and it’s particularly sad for the family concerned.”
