A 36-year-old man is to be charged in Waterford District Court this (Tuesday) morning in connection last Friday’s armed robbery at the Ulster Bank on The Quay.
The 31-year-old woman, who was arrested along with the man at a Tramore property on Saturday evening, has been released from custody without charge, with a file on her will be forwarded to the DPP.
A lone male entered the Ulster Bank at 1.30pm on Friday last and produced what was believed to be a firearm. He was wearing a high visibility jacket with a hood and his face was concealed.
The suspect threatened staff and, following threats, he was provided with a sum of money. The man then ran off in the direction of Exchange Street. Nobody was injured in the incident
Armed detective units and members of the Regional Support Unit were deployed to the scene. CCTV footage was also examined as part of the investigation.
