Carrick United’s love affair with the FAI Junior Cup is still very much alive. The 2008 champions totally outclassed Lagan Harps from Donegal on Sunday, and the only surprising aspect was the final score. Had they taken all of their chances, the Waterford Premier League side could have won by a much larger margin, but in cup football one goal is as good as ten. Eoin Burke was the player who scored a wonder goal after 19 minutes to keep the Super Hoops on track for another assault on the biggest trophy in Irish junior football.
The home team were first out of the blocks and they created the first chance after only two minutes play, James Walsh delivered a perfect ball into the run of Alan Coady but from six yards the Carrick striker side footed wide.
