Carrick’s John Walsh: brace of headers.

Carrick’s John Walsh: brace of headers.

Piltown 2;   Carrick United 4 (AET)

For the second time within the space of six days, Carrick United had to pull out all the stops to defeat an outfit from Division 1A in a cup competition.
Piltown, their near neighbours, made the FAI Junior champions of 2008 work really hard on Friday night last at a freezing Kildalton Park. The previous Sunday, Carrick, who are currently five points clear at the top of the Premier League, had to battle hard to get the better of St Joseph’s in the Munster Junior Cup.
Piltown are placed in fifth position in their league, eight points behind the leaders Grannagh, and that competition is their main priority. Nevertheless they gave everything possible against Carrick in what was the only game played last weekend due to the unexpected heavy snow fall which enveloped the South East.
