Clashmore 1-20 Dungarvan 3-11
Clashmore came out on top in a tremendous Radley Engineering Western Intermediate Football Championship Final in Fraher Field on Sunday last in a game that proved thrilling throughout.
Clashmore got off to a flying start in this game racing into a two point lead courtesy of a Brian O’Halloran brace inside two minutes.
Dungarvan’s first score came from the industrious Gavin Crotty on seven minutes.
This was quickly wiped out by Brian O’Halloran who registered his third score of the game a minute later which was followed by further Clashmore points from Mark Power and another from Brian O’Halloran.
Remarkably, O’Halloran’s score on 11 minutes was to be his last of the game.
It was keeping him scoreless from play for the rest of the game and self discipline in the Dungarvan defence that made it the game it was.
If both had not happened the chances are the Clashmore Club man could have ran amok and put up a good personal tally on the score sheet.
The first goal of the game came on 17 minutes. Liam Ryan, following a good run, sent in a good probing ball in and around the Clashmore goal which was finished to the net by Trevor Crotty to level matters.
The Old Boro took the lead for the first and only time on twenty one minutes when Seamus Cunningham pointed from a tight angle.
