I think disgust is the best word to describe Brian O’Driscoll’s face as he fulfilled his post-match duties at the Aviva Stadium on Sunday. I’m sure there’s a certain amount of cattiness within RTÉ over racing presenter Tracy Piggott getting the plumb job interviewing (as they say in Dublin 4) ‘the rugby guys’, but few would envy her having to quiz the Irish captain following this latest galling defeat by the Gauls.
Outscoring France three tries to one, but beaten on points, Ireland gave the game away. Unforced errors may be a misnomer in rugby but the home side’s carelessness against Italy the previous weekend.
