“I am delighted that Stephen Henderson has agreed to stay with the club. I make no bones about it when I say I was heart broken in recent weeks.

“It was hard to take being knocked out of the cup and losing out on a play-off place. I was really fed up but when I spoke with Stephen this week I knew we had only started to build a proper club and team here at the RSC.
“When I look back it was suspensions, injuries and a lack of experience that cost us at the end.”
Those were the opening comments of the Waterford United chairman John O’Sullivan on Saturday last. Just like Stephen Henderson, the affable O’Sullivan had put the disappointments of the last month to the back of his mind, and that fact has to be welcomed.
“We have a steady ship here now and we will leave no stone unturned to get the club back to the Premier League,” he added.
“We have always tried to do things in the proper fashion here and we will continue to do just that with the manager, the players and the committee.
“We moved quickly to hold on to Stephen and he was only to happy to stay and continue the great work he has started.
“I cannot wait for the new season to start, I really can’t. I love this game and just like all of our loyal supporters we will miss the buzz and excitement during the close season.
“What’s gone is gone so now we plan ahead to the New Year and a new and bright future for Waterford United.”
