Mount Sion galloped into a place in the semi-finals of the Senior Hurling Championship with a facile victory over 14-man Ballyduff Lower at Kill last Saturday afternoon. This game was played in the sweltering autumn sun but it was Mount Sion who were in red-hot form as they demolished a disappointing Ballyduff side. In truth, the result of this game was never really in doubt from the moment that Jason Phelan poked home Mount Sion’s second goal in the ninth minute.

Both teams racked up early scores as Paul Kennedy’s excellent early score from the left touchline was cancelled out by a long-range free by Ken McGrath.

In the fifth minute, we had the first major talking point of the game. Mount Sion’s centre-forward, Ross O’Keeffe gathered a loose ball 25 yards from goal. He shot and turned in the one movement and poor Ballyduff goalkeeper, Brian O’Leary never even saw it as it flew into his top right corner.
