Following the classic victory against Cork City the previous week in Turners Cross, this was something like the morning after the Lord Mayor’s Show. The Blues did not produce the same free flowing and fearless football from seven days previously, but nevertheless reeled off their third league win on the bounce to leapfrog Longford Town into 5th position on the league table. Played on Friday night last, the middle day of the Tall Ships Fesitval, Waterford did not have wind in their sails until they scored the only goal of the game.
