Johnville 0 Nenagh Town 6
A classy performance from Nenagh Town saw them overcome the challenge of the Johnville U-12 side in the SFAI cup at St Martin’s Park on Saturday afternoon last.
It was clear from the outset that the visitors from North Tipperary were a very strong team and while the first goal was always going to be important, it was Nenagh that got off to the perfect start after less than two minutes.
Man of the match Adam Healy, who was tremendous throughout, played the ball in for Steve Daly and although it did look like the striker was clearly offside, the whistle never sounded when Daly tucked the ball past keeper Darragh Phelan from 10 yards.
Phelan came to his side’s rescue with a brilliant save with his legs on eight minutes when Jack Maloney’s neat pass picked out Jake Flynn and just as it looked as if the midfielder was going to double Nenagh’s lead, the Johnville netminder came to the rescue.
