St Saviour’s and Bohemians played out a thrilling game in the league during the latter stages of last season’s campaign, and on Wednesday they produced another excellent game in Ballybeg.
The home side got off to a dream start by scoring after three minutes through Brian O’Donoghue, his second goal of the current campaign. They continued to dominate the contest but they did not add to their lead until Stephen Dalton scored his 5th goal of the new season just after the hour mark.
Dalton was of course last season’s leading goalscorer in the league and judging by his form so far this term he could easily top the charts once again.
Bohemians came charging back and scored a penalty on 73 minutes. Gerry Connors was the player who netted from the spot.
The visitors secured a point in stunning fashion two minutes from full-time. Kealon Kiersey, a former youth player with Kilmacthomas, found the net with a classic strike from 30 yards. The young player had replaced Bobby Keoghan with 17 minutes remaining, a real ‘super sub’ indeed. His piledriver gave the former Bohs goalkeeper Andrew Halligan no chance whatsoever.
St Saviour’s will be disappointed to have dropped two valuable home points but Bohemians deserved their share of the spoils due to their fighting spirit after falling two behind.
