Towering Lismore forward Maurice Shanahan put in a virtuoso performance, scoring twelve points in total, to secure the local bragging rights and both Group 2 points over Tallow in the second part of Sunday’s Dungarvan double-header.
Tallow lined out without the services of both Aidan Kearney and David O’Brien, and they proved huge losses for the Bridesiders who had to re-shuffle their team accordingly.
While it was Lismore who opened the scoring courtesy of a Maurice Shanahan free, Tallow had the better of the opening exchanges and even without key personnel it looked as if a shock of sorts could be on the cards as they raced into a 0-3 to 0-1 lead inside seven minutes.
However, once Dan Shanahan, after good spade work by Chris O’Gorman, flicked to the net after eleven minutes there was only going to be one outcome.
Six further points followed from Maurice Shanahan in the opening half which saw Lismore retire to the comfort of the dressing rooms leading 1-10 to 0-7.
