Despite finishing the game with 10 men, Crusaders claimed their first point of the season at Connors Park in a division which looks set to prove most competitive between now and season’s end.
This was a tough encounter and it was clear from the outset that both sets of players were determined to win.
The Villa had an opportunity to open the scoring after three minutes when Geroge Fennelly was put in the clear by Noel O’Loughlin but Crusaders goalkeeper Darragh Beagan advanced quickly to save.
