Waterford League 1; South Tipperary League 3
A strong South Tipperary team were too good for the Waterford Youth League in Ozier Park on Sunday afternoon last. The visitors scored twice without reply in the first half and when Waterford had their skipper red carded early in the second period the writing was on the wall for Anthony Browne’s young outfit.
The home side did play much better when they were reduced to ten players and during that period they pulled a goal back but almost immediately the visitors scored once again. This was Waterford’s only home game in the group stages of this competition. They must travel to play West Waterford and Kilkenny, and they now have a mountain to climb. Kilkenny defeated West Waterford 4-1 in the other game of the group.
Brilliant free kick
Waterford were unlucky not to open the scoring in the second minute when Thomas Whitty took off on a powerful run down the left wing before cracking in a shot on the run from 25 yards but the ball came crashing back off the crossbar with the goalkeeper beaten.
