Holders De La Salle have advanced to the quarter-finals of this year’s championship following a two-point win over Fourmilewater in Fraher Field on Sunday last.

However, going on this performance if they are to put back-to-back titles together they have a lot of improving to do as it would appear that they are still suffering the effects of being blown away by Portumna in the All-Ireland Club Final on St Patrick’s Day.

Many of those players expected to shine failed to impress. John Mullane and Bryan Phelan were almost anonymous over the course of the hour, while for Fourmilewater nothing went right for Shane Walsh, scorer of three goals in Waterford’s last two outings in the All-Ireland series.
