Waterford’s slim chance of securing back-to-back League promotions ended on Sunday afternoon last when they went under to Offaly by two points at a sparsely populated Fraher Field. They now face a fight to retain their Division Three status when hosting Louth at the same venue on Sunday next.
It was Waterford who proved quickest to settle. Brian Wall cancelled out Brian Connor’s early score when he kicked the first of his four points from frees four minutes into the game.
