Waterford 0-11 Tipperary 0-9
Waterford gained a morale-boosting victory over Tipperary in the quarter-finals of the McGrath Cup in Walsh Park last Sunday, edging out their local rivals by two points in a hard-fought encounter.
With a National League fixture against the same opposition set for March, John Owens’s men will take great confidence from this welcome win in their first competitive outing in 2011.
Waterford didn’t get off to a very good start, as Tipperary raced into a three point lead inside the first six minutes.
With ace attacker Barry Grogan looking very dangerous, scores from James Egan, Peter Acheson and Grogan put Waterford on the back foot from the off.
