Kilrossanty 0-13; Brickeys 1-6
There is no doubt but that this is going to go down as one of the poorest games of senior football played in Waterford this year.
The fact the first score came on two minutes and the next did not come till the eighteenth – and that the Brickeys’ only score of the opening half – tells it all.
Kilrossanty, despite going so long in the opening half without scoring, were the better team and fully deserved their win. The Comeragh men, with three wins for their three games, are now safely through to the quarter-finals and will be one of the seeded teams, and with a favourable draw could go all the way to the final.
If one was to pick a highlight here, the performance of Paul Whyte was worth the admission fee alone.
The teenager has won an army of admirers in recent years and those old enough to remember his father and grandfather before him like to draw on comparisons between all three, and young Paul could well prove to be the best of the lot.
Playing against the breeze in the first half, the victors retired at the break leading 0-6 to 0-1 after playing some good football in patches and kicking some delightful scores.
