The intermediate ladies footballers of Waterford will line out at Croke Park on All-Ireland Final day following a deserved victory over Cavan at Dr Cullen Park at Carlow last Saturday.
The Lakeside County entered the game as favourites after they proved too strong for the same opposition in the League final at Parnell Park in Dublin earlier this season.
But on Saturday last, they came up against a bang-in form Waterford, whose powerful second half display steered them towards Croker, keeping their opponents scoreless for the final 17 minutes of the game.
Despite starting the game missing a relatively easy free, Waterford were always on top and never looked like losing this game despite Cavan’s best effort.
Michelle McGrath and Sinead Ryan had Waterford three points up inside eight minutes, while Cavan struck back with points from Aisling Doonan and Brona Sheridan.
The only goal of the game soon followed, with Sinead and Michelle Ryan linking up well to set up Elaine Power to score a vital goal.
