EoinMcGarryA Dungarvan diver has returned from recently conducting a dive on the site of the wreck of the famous ocean liner RMS Lusitania as part of a National Geographic documentary.
Eoin McGarry, who has also conducted a high profile dive at the site of the Asgard II off the French coast, led the technical dive team at the site of the wreck which lies 11 and a half miles off the Old Head of Kinsale, submerged in 300 feet of water.
The wreck, which is owned by American Gregg Bemis, has been explored a number of times in order to establish what really happened on May 7 1915 when it sank in just eighteen minutes taking 1,198 people with it after it was torpedoed by a German U-boat.
