The new Mayor of Waterford, Councillor Pat Hayes, was elected as the city’s First Citizen on Monday night.  Mayor Hayes previously held the office in 1999/2000. Labour’s Pat Hayes was elected as Mayor of Waterford for the second time on Monday evening at City Hall, with Fine Gael’s Hilary Quinlan elected to serve as Deputy Mayor.
Proposed for the position by party colleague Councillor Jack Walsh and seconded by Cllr Tom Cunningham (FG), Mayor Hayes spoke of his ambition to lead the office as “a team player”.
