PicAA paraglider pilot who had to be airlifted to Waterford Regional Hospital after sustaining serious injuries in a crash in the Comeragh Mountains last March had not completed any formal flying course or received approved training on paragliders, an enquiry has found.
A report by the Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU), released this week, noted that the 34-year old Lithuanian pilot had completed a two hour flight on the morning of March 3rd 2012 in good weather conditions.
