A Waterford businessman, defamed by a sketch on an RTE radio programme, was awarded €70,000 in compensation in the High Court last week.
Vincent O’Toole (84), owner of the Maryland House, The Mall, in the city, sued the state broadcaster, claiming he had been libeled in a ‘Nob Nation’ sketch on the Gerry Ryan Show on RTE 2FM in August 2008.
