Well known for his objections to many developments throughout the city, Brendan McCann  has appealed against Waterford City Council’s green lighting a new private member’s club on John’s Lane.

Both Mr McCann and Workers Party Councillor Davy Walsh have lodged objections to the proposal made by Blazin’ Aces Partnership who wish to convert two retail units into a gaming club.

Waterford City Council granted planning permission to Blazin’ Aces on June 3rd with seven separate conditions attached.

The case is due to be ruled upon by An Bord Pleanála on October 20th.

Meanwhile, An Bord Pleanála has ruled that the erection of two static billboards following the expiry of a permission to erect a prismatic billboard at 16 Lombard Street is exempt development.

A 40-house development at Feddaun, Mount Melleray, which also included eight serviced sites, a borehole and associated works, was refused permission by An Bord.

In its ruling, An Bord adjudged the Creo Developments proposal to be “contrary to the planning and sustainable development of the area”.
