Waterford County Council is to attempt to recover Tramore road signs and name plates adorning the walls of an “Irish pub” in an Austrian town.
At Tuesday night’s meeting of Tramore Town Council Raymond Hayden reported having seen the items while in Austria last month. He didn’t name the town.
Dan Cowman said he had been wondering “where that sign went from Peter Street”, to which Mayor Joe Conway joked: “Sherlock Hayden has solved the mystery”.
Town Manager Brian White said the County Council would check out what course of action it could take to recover the signs and then seek to do so.
The Mayor said the signal should go out that it was not acceptable to “rip off” such property for the purpose of decorating Irish pubs abroad.
