Waterford man Vincent Coffey has packed a lot into his 57 years, and now after being a victim of the recession he is about to embark on a new venture which will see him take to the River Suir as he battles back from a decision he had to take reluctantly in November 2009.
Born in 1953, “I was one of six boys and two girls growing up in Ballytruckle. Our parents were Michael and Florence. My mother maiden name was Florence Childs and she was born in Derby, but her ancestors came from Waterford, the famous Goodchild family in fact. Michael, Barry, Dermot, Philip and Noel are my brothers. Margaret and Mary are our sisters. All of them still live in Waterford, apart from Margaret who moved to England in 1965 when she married a chap called John Kinsella.
