Tramore’s traditional close of season fireworks display re-affirmed the resurgence of the town as Ireland’s premier seaside resort according to the Chairperson of Tramore’s Chamber of Tourism & Commerce.
Speaking to The Munster Express, Mary Daniels said that Tramore has “now moved on and established itself as an all-year round destination, with visitor numbers climbing and renewed investor confidence illustrating our positive resurgence on several fronts”.
Ms Daniels continued: “On reflection, the 2015 season has proven incredibly progressive, given the opening of the Inclusion Play Park, the Christmas Carnival, the Promenade Festival, the opening of the Lafcadio Hearn Gardens, along with the National Lifeguard Training Centre, and we had a very successful August Race Meeting too.
“There’s an energy in the atmosphere throughout Tramore: you can feel it in the air – the sense that something big is happening is unavoidable. And that’s a great feeling.”
Citing a “shift in mindset”, some 18 months after Tramore Chamber’s foundation, Mary Daniels stated: “Faith is taking the first leap when you can’t see the staircase. Stakeholders including the businesses community, along with Waterford City & County Council have embraced the potential of our greatest strengths – and once that happened the sky was the limit in terms of what could and will be achieved.”
Referring to the Council’s €1 million commitment to the regeneration of Main Street, the Railway Building project along with the continued investment into the town’s park and increased private sector investment (i.e. NearForm), “Tramore has a lot to look forward to”.
Ms Daniels concluded: “I would urge stakeholders in Tramore to understand that our future can only be engineered by ourselves. Tramore will go where we choose to bring it .
“The continued success of Tramore can be protected by simple actions. By that, I mean if there are local events on, then go and support them, if a shop opens, we all need to support it and if you need a product or service, then use what’s available in our town.
“Most importantly, if someone asks you how’s things are in Tramore, then reply with the truth: they’re wonderful!”
