The locally-run satirical website Waterford Whispers raised eyebrows and tempers in the US states of Texas and California last week, after it “quoted” Michelle Obama commenting how ugly she thinks Irish people are.
The article, headlined ‘ “There are some seriously ugly looking motherf***ers living on this island.”: Michelle Obama’ was posted by waterfordwhispers.com founder Colm Williamson last Monday, the day the US First Lady arrived in Ireland for a whistle-stop visit with her daughters.
On her arrival in Dublin Airport, the article reported Ms Obama as quipping that she ‘couldn’t wait to leave this Godforsaken place’.
