A plan to invest heavily in regional airports appears to have been pulled back. Major capital investments promised in the beginning of the year under Bertie Ahern, the then Taoiseach, appear to be reducing.

Kerry say that they are losing some major grant money. Hopefully this will not happen in Waterford. Kerry already has the capacity to handle jet planes but Waterford has not.

The Waterford airport is proving to be very successful with Aer Arann routes expanding this past summer. The Amsterdam flight is continuing over the winter too as well as the popular UK ones. The case is proven for a south east airport that can handle jets.

Minister Cullen must fight hard to ensure that Waterford is included in future estimates and plans.
