Fancy seeing this in Tramore?

No doubt, all the beach and surf athletes in Tramore will be interested to learn that the 2017 European Land-Sailing Championships will be held in this country for the first time in over 30 years.
Sadly, even though the Tramore beach would be a suitable venue the racing will be held in County Meath on the beaches at Laytown and Bettystown where horse-racing also takes place every summer. Perhaps it was a missed opportunity for Tramore.
The application by the Irish Power Kite and Sandyachting Association to host three of the Championships was made with the enthusiastic support of Meath County Council and Boyne Valley Tourism.
The event will be held in September when over 100 of the best land sailors in Europe will race over a five-day period. The event was last staged in this country in 1983 when Newcastle in County Down was the venue.
