Top comedian and impressionist Oliver Callan is the first of a number of big-name celebrities that will be appearing at The Eden Restaurant in Carrick-on-Suir in the near future.

Carrick guitarist/producer Ger Kiely (The Chieftains, Tom Jones, Mundy, Mary Coughlan) has recently become a co-owner of Eden with his friend Brenda Hanrahan and he is enlisting his friends in the entertainment business to perform there occasionally.

In a meal and show presentation, Oliver will be appearing on Friday and Saturday nights, November 29th and 30th and, no doubt, will take along his many alter egos such as Martin O’Neill, Roy Keane and Enda Kenny to name just a few.

Incidentally, Oliver caused consternation last week when his spoof radio interview on the One O’Clock News with Aine Lawlor on RTE Radio One was believed by many to be the real thing.

Impersonating the two famous football heroes he caused more than a few hearts to flutter when, as Roy, he cheerfully declared: “I’ll have no problem being Martin’s number two as long as he does what I tell him!”

Ger Kiely has recently written the music for the comedian’s hit radio show ‘Callan’s Kicks’ on adio One.

Expect some more big names to follow and maybe Ger’s friend, Tom Jones, might call in the next time he is in Ireland. Apparently, Tom does a super version of ‘The Rose of Mooncoin’ – now that would be worth hearing!

Co-owner Brenda Hanrahan from Grangemockler previously managed the famous Kate O’Brien’s Bar and Restaurant in San Francisco which was a favourite haunt of musicians and actors and quite a few of her American friends have already paid some quiet visits to Eden.
